Converting Waste Heat Makes Economic Sense

ENERVEX’s VHX Economizer is a Waste Heat to Water (WHW) heat exchanger that converts exhaust waste heat into hot water.

The VHX is designed around ENERVEX’s modular hybrid micro-channel/plate heat exchanger modules that are extremely efficient, yet compact. It is extremely versatile and can serve dual uses such as supplying hot water to a Waste Heat to Power (WHP) system while simultaneously supplying hot water to a separate application. Compared by physical size it produces 200% to 300% more savings than a traditional economizer.

In many applications and processes, as much as 20 to 50% of the energy consumed is ultimately lost via waste heat in streams of hot exhaust gases or from heated product streams.

Where can the waste heat be used?

A Waste Heat to Water (WHW) system can generate hot process water, potable hot water, and hot water for building heating. But it is also an essential component in most WHP systems. We design and supply packaged WHW to WHP solutions.

A WHW system can reduce fuel consumption by 5-10% and typically pays for itself in less than two years.

Taking advantage of waste heat is not only profitable, but practical. The VHX solutions can be an essential part of a company’s Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy and initiatives.
