We have an immediate need for a Sales Engineer based in the San Francisco Bay area who will be interacting with contractors and engineers in the territory. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic self-starter who is eager to become an integral part of our success. The successful candidate will be persistent and focused with the desire to build and sustain existing business relationships while developing new ones. We will provide comprehensive industry and product training to ensure the success of this individual.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sales Engineer will be actively involved in bidding and selling products offered by company-represented manufacturers to contractors and owners of commercial construction projects for data centers, schools, housing, hospitals, and other commercial buildings. The Sales Engineer will also work with engineering firms to specify our products in projects. This role will be supported by our project management team who will partner with the Sales Engineer to provide quotations, project engineering, submittal documents, and post-sale support.
This position requires excellent people skills to develop long term client relationships (business partners) with impeccable client follow-up, subject matter expertise, attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to handle issues in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities Include:
Leverage and develop relationships with contractors of large-scale projects through cold calls, lead generation, and lead follow up to provide engineering and design assistance and generate quoting opportunities.
Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal departments to prepare project quotations that include specification compliance, pricing, bill of materials, cost of ownership documentation, drawings, scope of work and procedures. Finalize buy numbers and win business.
Manage proposals, quotations, and price negotiations with customers.
Track and communicate project status, technical requirements and customer information and work with internal departments to evaluate and mitigate order costs.
Independently represent the company in technical meetings, site walk-throughs, tradeshows, and industry conferences to promote our services.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a technical area of study, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, preferred or equivalent education and experience, with a technical or engineering focus.
A successful record of outside sales experience.
A self-starter who can develop and maintain relationships with business partners and individuals who are part of the business development process to generate additional business.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and excellent people skills.
Detailed understanding of mechanical drawings and written specifications.
A clean motor vehicle record, valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation are required.

Work is primarily in an office environment but may include site visits. The successful candidate must be able to operate standard office equipment and be able to use a computer to access, input and retrieve information.
